Emma Cook

February 23rd, 2010 | 2 comments »

Playful and girlish. Yet so stylish. New collection of Emma Cook for spring and summer 2010 is topped with retro colors from beige to black.  Emma studied in Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design with Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen and worked for Donna Karan. Her collections are often full of animals and so does her current one. There’s some kind of timeless elegance in those…

Lamija Suljevic

February 20th, 2010 | no comments »

Lamija Suljevic is a Bosnian born very young and talented designer from Stockholm, Sweden. Her clothes are pretty much coming to an end of art than fashion. But I don’t mind it at all. On the contrary.

The handmade dresses and detailed embroidery for the new collection 2010 is a somewhat very uplifting and fresh experience.  Her pieces are one of a kind and she uses very old techniques. A wind from the past where slavic eastern block has won the ruling of Europe in somewhere distant time and place. Something from the soul of a soviet woman mixed with “fritzlangesque” visions. I like this very much.

PrAsperity Project

February 16th, 2010 | no comments »

This Fashion Week, PrAsperity Project, the official charity of Pras Michel (homecountry Haiti), teamed up with Joonbug.com and STYLE360 to launch a Haiti Relief bracelet with LolaJames Jewelry. They will serve as a symbol of the fashion industry’s dedication to those facing poverty and homelessness in Haiti. Thirty percent of proceeds from these bracelets, made of tiger eye and crystal to symbolize strength and healing for the people of Haiti, will restore homes, schools, hospitals and jobs in this disaster-stricken country.

CTRL ss 10

February 5th, 2010 | 2 comments »

CTRL Clothing has landed with a new massive spring and summer collection for 2010 and above is a sneak peak for you. Freeman, the brains behind the label told us that the collection is named “Fistro Papi, Anthora” which basically doesn’t mean anything (except maybe something, I’m not sure). But just remember before spending an evening on the hottest elektro-pop-club in town to be sure to check you wear something from CTRL…

Krizia

Some of the dresses from the Krizia’s new Spring/Summer 2010 collection look  as italian you can get. But that’s  not a bad thing at all. And this collection has some classic uplift on them.

Christian Bailey on Burberry

January 19th, 2010 | no comments »

Well, it’s Milan Fashion Week and a lot of “old-timers” are making it as a freshy approach as you possibly can. By making it with a clean “side tour” via retro-revival… Not at all a bad thing I think. Burberry icon Chris Bailey are making a new kind of burberry from the old stuff but there’s plenty of nice collections for men this year to wear. Burberry Prorsum for the Fall of 2010 maybe says it all.

Vernato

January 17th, 2010 | 4 comments »

Time to time you come a cross to a thing you don’t know what it basically is and you scratch your head. Alban from Vernato approached us and said: “We are a new brand that focuses only on world cultures. We are two Europeans that came to the US at an early age. We looked around and there were no brands that designed what we had in mind. We went ahead and build a whole brand on the message of Cultural Meaning, or Meaningful Culture. Every piece of t-shirt that we introduce has a cultural meaning behind it.”

Message of cultural meaning? I’m a little bit lost there but nonetheless I think the basic consept should be rethought a little bit. Personally I think the culture and cultural meanings go deeper than just a word of the nation in question and some plain national symbols. Some of the shirts (like Russia) might even go a littel bit to the unbalanced surface of nationalism… Well, you can judge it for yourselves above.  But good luck to guys anyways.
