Tsolmandakh Munkhuu

May 8th, 2010 | 1 comment »

The town of Hyères in Southern France hosted again a runway for the young and talented fashion designers. The winner of the prize voted on by the public was Tsolmandakh Munkhuu, a 33-year-old Paris-based Mongolian designer. Her black collection was emphasized with completely black painted models. Too bad there’s not much of an information about this interesting designer.

Bent on Learning Benefit

May 5th, 2010 | 2 comments »

Do not usually post any celebrity sightings here but let’s do it for this time. And that’s because of the ‘lés chic’ couple over there: the designer of alice + olivia Stacey Bendet, and Eddie Stern director of Ashtanga Yoga New York. They have a very nice and elegant taste on their outfit. Unlike Gwyneth Paltrow has a little bit of ‘out of place’ -feeling on her dress. Yes, that’s the purpose for the design but it still feels out of place and time if you know what I mean.. The happening was Bent on Learning annual benefit held in last week with the usual suspects ie. Madonna, Donna Karan, Russell Simmons, Sean Lennon, Charlotte Kemp Muhl, Fisher Stevens, The Beastie Boys’ Mike Diamond, etc.

The organisation offers instruction in yoga and meditation to students in New York City public schools and youth centers as a means of reducing stress and improving concentration, self-esteem and overall health.

Lodger

April 2nd, 2010 | 2 comments »

English and Italian mens shoes designing label Lodger has thought a little bit ’round the corner’ this time and developed an exciting new concept. They will make a shoe for each month and it’s only available for orders in that month only.

Derek likes the April shoe, Russell: “It’s a new Oxford pattern which we have based on our classic English last. The shape of this last has proved to be very popular as both a smart and casual shoe because of the comfortable fit and traditional English lines. The burnishing of the toe and heel complements the military green with dappled tones of tan, brown, and grey. Together with its shapely curves and distinctive colouring, the Russell has plenty of the conspicuous character we seek to instill in a Lodger shoe.” The press release tells us.

Rick Owens

Kyle McLachlan or Sting on The Dune? No, it’s just Rick Owens and his collection for men in Autumn/Winter 2010. And those Lorax gloves which gives you a feeling you have something else placed for the arms. Gotta love the futuristic visions of Rick Owens every time.

Charlotte Taylor

March 11th, 2010 | no comments »

Charlotte dropped us some mail a little while ago and told us: “Just recovering from the chaos of London Fashion Week! The unique Penguin print has received a huge amount of attention, catching the eyes of the fashion industry as it stands out amongst the repetitive grays and blacks of Autumn/Winter”.

And her brand new press-release says: “Dashes of colour through tweed, navy, cream and pearl, twist through folds and pleats. Weighty fabrics and concealed contrasts create clothes that flow, move and transform with the movement of life. The dresses are ripe for the winter dance’aholic’, whilst coats and capes engulf you in a sea of wool, chunky zips and head consuming hoods”. Derek likes.
